Dental arch circumference (or arch perimeter) is the total, continuous distance around the dental arch, measuring from the distal surface of the last molar on one side, following the contact points and incisal edges, to the distal surface of the last molar on the other. 
Arch length, conversely, is a linear measurement representing the anteroposterior depth of the arch. It is typically measured from a perpendicular line connecting the distal surfaces of the first molars (or second primary molars) to the central contact point of the upper or lower incisors.
