Ordinary citizens can also help prevent accidents,report suspicious activity, and provide assistance during emergencies. Inrecent years, technology and social media have changed the way peoplerespond to public safety issues. Some people believe that citizens shouldplay a more active role in helping maintain public safety, while othersthink this responsibility should primarily fall to the government and lawenforcement agencies.
